Laboratory of Organic Chemistry for Drug Design and Discovery

Development of innovative organic synthesis reactions and creation of functional molecules

The ability to freely assemble molecules by making full use of chemical reactions is the privilege of organic chemistry. At the Drug Discovery Organic Chemistry Laboratory, we are conducting research with the goal of discovering and inventing new reactions and molecular structures that will contribute to life science. The primary themes are the development of a catalytic skeleton construction method for nitrogen-containing heterocycles, and the short-stage asymmetric synthesis of bioactive substances utilizing this. At the same time, we are developing the chemistry of amide-based low-molecular-weight gelling agents that will deepen the chemistry of molecular assembly through hydrogen bonds and Van der Waals forces, with the goal of fortifying the basis of molecular interaction.
