Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry

Research regarding the establishment of new quality evaluation methods aimed at securing the efficacy and safety of pharmaceutical products.

• Establishment and application of highly sensitive and accurate analysis methods for trace components of living organisms

A comprehensive analysis of metabolites within living organisms is necessary to ensure the safety of pharmaceutical products. However, as these metabolites are only found in extremely small amounts, we will try to establish a highly sensitive and accurate analysis method.

• Research regarding the structure-activity relationship of cytochrome P450

P450 is a monooxygenase that contains heme in its active center, and plays an important role in the metabolism of endogenous bioactive substances and exogenous substances such as medicines. Using molecular biology and analytical scientific methods, we will clarify the structure-activity relationship of all P450 molecules, and contribute to the development of medical care personalized for individual patients.

• Research regarding the prevention of distribution of counterfeit medicines

Counterfeit medicines are becoming a threat to developed and developing countries. We are establishing a quick and simple analysis technology for the counterfeit identification and quality monitoring of distributed medicines, along with investigations of the actual distribution situation in developing countries.

• Research regarding cell nuclear dynamics analysis using spectroscopic techniques

Transcription factors are key proteins for reading genetic information, and in clarifying the structure and functions of transcription factors by spectroscopic methods, which play a decisive role in life activities, we will attempt to apply this to pharmaceutical product safety evaluations.
