Welcome Party
- D.W.C.L.A.’s students, faculty and staff, and the host families held a welcome party for the international students.



Class Scenery
- The students took Japanese classes for the 1st and 2nd periods every day, Monday through Friday.



Club Visit 1: Calligraphy Club
- The students thought of their favorite kanji characters or words, and the club members wrote them out.



Club Visit 2: Kimono Dressing Club
- The students picked out their favorite kimono, and the club members helped them to wear it.



Club Visit 3: Tea Ceremony Club
- Upon their visit to the Omotesenke Tea Ceremony Club, the students observed the members’ tea ceremony’s procedures, and enjoyed Japanese sweets with ceremonial tea.



Club Visit 4: Flower Arrangement Club
- The students visited the Ohara-ryu Flower Arrangement Club and experienced seasonal flower arrangement.



Club Visit 5: Japanese Music Club
- The students learned how to play the koto and the shamisen. They were also given a beautiful performance from the club’s members.



Term A Field Trip 1: Fushimi Inari Taisha & Making Japanese Sweets (Wagashi)
- The students visited Fushimi Inari Taisha, and experienced making Japanese sweets, called “Wagashi” afterwards.



Term A Field Trip 2: Kodaiji Temple & Japanese Archery Experience
- The students visited Kodaiji Temple, and challenged Japanese archery.



Term A Field Trip (Organized by D.W.C.L.A. Students): Sanzenin Temple & Owls Forest
- At JLIC, a special field trip was organized by the D.W.C.L.A. students. In Term A, the students visited Sanzenin Temple, and interacted with owls at the Owls Forest afterwards.



Term B Field Trip (Organized by D.W.C.L.A. Students): Exploring the Arashiyama Area
- In Term B, the students will take a stroll around the Arashiyama area, visit Tenryuji Temple, and the bamboo forest.



Kyotanabe Campus Social Event
- The international exchange staff planned a social event with the D.W.C.L.A. students at the Kyotanabe Campus.



Term B Field Trip 1: Making Yatsuhashi & Gion Corner
- The students made Japanese sweets known as “yatsuhashi.” Afterwards they viewed a Japanese traditional performance at the Gion Corner.



Term B Field Trip 2: Nanzenji Temple & Making Kanzashi
- The students formed pairs with D.W.C.L.A. students, visited Nanzenji Temple, and experienced making ornate hairpins, called “Kanzashi” afterwards.



Farewell Party
- A completion ceremony and farewell party was held for the international students. At the completion ceremony, the international director gave each student their completion certificate. At the subsequent farewell party each international student gave a speech in Japanese.
