International Exchange Center of Doshisha Women's College of Liberal Arts provides the following services to privately-financed international students.
"Orientation for Privately-financed International Students" (held in early April)
We hold an orientation for new international students who start their studies at our college with various goals in mind. We provide advice on how to adjust promptly to a new environment, as well as introduce get-together activities and programs with other students and necessary formal procedures.
- Contents
- Introduction of International Exchange Center, confirmation of passport and status of residence, explanation about the legal procedures for residing in Japan (Status of Residence, Alien Registration, National Health Insurance), application for permission to engage in activity other than that permitted under the status of residence previously granted, application for tuition reduction, introduction of scholarship programs (offered by the college and outside organizations), National Health Insurance Subsidy for international students
※The "Procedures Regarding Residing in Japan for Privately-financed International Students " (handbook) will be handed out at the orientation.
※This orientation is held every year.
Application to Immigration Bureau by proxy
There are several legal procedures that foreigners residing in Japan are required to follow. Following these procedures is essential to guarantee your status in Japan. Among them, application for permission to engage in activity other than that permitted under the status of residence previously granted (permission for part-time work) is submitted to the Immigration Bureau by the International Exchange Center on behalf of the students.
※Depending on the timing or circumstances, students may be required to apply by themselves. For this reason, those who wish to apply for this procedure are advised to consult with the International Exchange Center in advance.
International Exchange Center Library
The International Exchange Center Library has multilingual computers for international students, as well as newspapers, magazines and flyers of various events outside the college. Feel free to visit the library during break, lunchtime or after class. The library is visited by many Japanese students who are interested in study abroad and international exchange as well, so it is also a good place for making new friends.
Announcements from the International Exchange Center to current international students are posted on the message board or sent out by e-mail. It is recommended that you check the message board of the International Exchange Center regularly.
